Woman airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following collision with tractor trailer

A 69-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash with a tractor trailer in Nova Scotia’s Cumberland County.

Nova Scotia RCMP say the crash along Highway 4 in Wentworth Center, near Lake Road, happened at around 8:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Police believe a northbound SUV collided with a southbound tractor trailer when the SUV crossed the centre line.

The woman in the SUV, who was the only person in the vehicle, was transported to hospital via LifeFlight.

The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

Police say Highway 4 remains closed as police investigate the cause of the crash. It’s expected to remain closed until 6 p.m.
