Okotoks woman killed after vehicle hits street light pole

Okotoks RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a light standard on 32 Street at North Railway Street.

RCMP say a woman was killed in a crash in the town of Okotoks, Alta., on Sunday.

The victim was driving a vehicle that struck a street light pole on 32 Street and North Railway Street at around noon.

“At this time, it is unclear as the cause of the accident,” RCMP said in a Tuesday news release. “The incident is still under investigation.”

The victim, a 61-year-old Okotoks resident, suffered “severe” injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about it is asked to call Okotoks RCMP at 403-995-6400 or contact Crime Stoppers.

Okotoks is located about 20 kilometres south of Calgary.
