Kitchener Rangers topple lowly Kingston Frontenacs

The Kitchener Rangers finished off a busy long weekend by handing the Kingston Frontenacs their 15th straight loss on Monday.

Jonathan Yantsis recorded his 39th goal of the season at the 3:06 mark of the contest to put the visiting Rangers in front.

The score would remain that way until Nick Wong would even things up for the home side early in the second period.

Donovan Sebrango, and Joseph Garreffa would put the Rangers in front for good with goals about a minute apart halfway through the middle period.

Tyler Burnie would score with about nine minutes to play for Kingston but that would be as close as they would get.

SUNDAY: OTTAWA 67’s 6, KITCHENER RANGER 3

Austen Keating had two goals and two assists as the Ottawa 67s extended their point streak to 14 games with a 6-3 win over the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Michael DiPietro turned away 28 shots in his first start since being loaned back to the 67’s from the Vancouver Canucks, helping Ottawa improve to 13-0-1 on its current run.

Noel Hoefenmayer, Kyle Maksimovich, Alec Belanger and Tye Felhaber also scored for the 67’s.

Greg Meireles struck twice and Garreffa had the other for the Rangers.

Lucas Pfeil kicked made 29 saves for Kitchener.

The 67’s went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Rangers were 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

FRIDAY: KITCHENER RANGERS 5, GUELPH STORM 2

Rickard Hugg scored twice in the first period as the Kitchener Rangers outlasted the Guelph Storm 5-2.

The Rangers also got goals from Yantsis, Riley Damiani and Garreffa.

Owen Lalonde and MacKenzie Entwistle scored for Guelph. Alexei Toropchenko was ejected for checking to the head midway through the third.
