1 dead, 3 injured after fatal crash in Yarmouth County
A young woman is dead and three people have been injured after a collision between a car and a tractor-trailer in Yarmouth County on Monday.
RCMP say that the crash occurred at approximately 4:31 p.m., when a car travelling east on Highway 101 near Exit 34 in Hebron crossed the centreline and struck a parked tractor-trailer on the westbound side of the highway.
The Mounties say a 20-year-old woman who was in the rear seat died at the scene while a 19-year-old woman who was also in the rear seat sustained life-threatening injuries.
The 19-year-old was eventually transported to Halifax via LifeFlight helicopter.
A 29-year-old man who was the driver of the vehicle and the 21-year-old male front seat-passenger were injured and were transported to Yarmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not in the truck at the time and was not injured.
Highway 101 was closed for several hours — reopening at 12:15 a.m. — as an RCMP collision analyst was called to examine the scene.
