Oh, bother! A hungry North Carolina bear unintentionally got a free ride on the highway after getting trapped in a truck hauling garbage to a landfill.
According to WTKR News, drivers in Windsor spotted the bear popping out of the back of the garbage truck as the vehicle cruised down a highway.
Apparently, the snack-seeking bear climbed into the trash truck during a stop, and became trapped after the driver secured the netting that prevents garbage from blowing out.

According to the news station, authorities got a call Wednesday morning, reporting “a bear was hanging off of a dump truck.”
The Windsor/Bertie County Chamber of Commerce shared a photo on social media showing the bear stuck atop the truck.
“Maybe we should have a black bear festival,” reads the Facebook post.
The driver was apparently unaware of the stowaway.
Lewis Hoggard, executive director of the local chamber of commerce, said a deputy pulled the truck over and the bear “stuck his head up and the deputy saw it.”
The driver of the truck rolled back the netting and the bear “hopped out of the truck and ran in the woods.”
