Staff at London’s Forest of Flowers have been working nearly around the clock for the last week to prepare for what they call their biggest day of the year.

“A lot of what we’re doing in the back room is designing ahead of time, bringing in the roses, cleaning them, prepping them and getting them ready,” Forest of Flower’s marketing and training manager, Jennifer Covey told 980 CFPL.

She said between four and six employees are dedicated to the preparations.

The company has 10 locations in London as well as six in other locations across southern Ontario which will fill tens of thousands of orders for Valentine’s Day alone this year.

Covey says the most popular order they receive remains red roses, but they have plenty of options to choose from no matter whom you’re buying for.

While the majority of customers are buying for their romantic partners, people order for other loved ones, too.

“There are also a lot of people buying for their parents and also a lot of girlfriends who buy for each other as well. They say, ‘Hey, we’re both single, have a great day, I’m thinking of you,'” Covey noted. “It’s really just a sentiment and a thoughtful thing for a lot of different reasons.”

“Watching people fill out the card messages and some of the things they have to say is really, really heart-warming and it’s part of what makes it such an amazing personal gift.”

If you’re worried you’ve run out of time to place your order, there’s still time to secure a bouquet or arrangement. Forest of Flowers is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday to take orders.
