An argument over a box of Cheez-Its crackers led a Georgia man to allegedly set his mother’s home on fire early Tuesday morning.
Authorities responded to a call of a house fire in the Atlanta suburb of Lithonia after a “domestic-related incident.”
“PD and fire responded to a domestic-related incident this morning,” Dekalb County Fire Rescue Department said. “Once fire arrived on scene, crews saw smoke coming from the home.”

Authorities told CBS46 News that two brothers and their 61-year-old mother got into some sort of an argument over a box of Cheez-Its crackers.
Police alleged one of the brothers, who was intoxicated at the time, locked his brother and mom inside the home and began to douse the front steps with gasoline, CBS46 News reported. The man allegedly set the house on fire, trapping his two family members inside.

According to the news station, the brother was able to reach his mother and carry her down to safety from a second-storey window.

Station 11Alive reports a 32-year-old man was charged with arson. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
