A Belleville man is facing charges in Kingston for allegedly defrauding a grocery company out of thousands of dollars.
Back in the summer, Kingston police say a loss prevention manager at a chain grocery store in Kingston’s mid-town reported to police that an employee had been stealing from the company. Kingston police would not reveal which grocery chain was involved in the alleged fraud.
Police they the man worked in a managerial role with the company in Kingston and Whitby from August 2017 to August 2018.
While employed with the company, police claim the man gave himself refunds on his personal debit and credit cards and took money from cash deposits. All in all, police allege the man stole $36,000 from the grocery store company.
The 29-year-old Belleville man turned himself in to Kingston police on Feb. 6 and he was charged with fraud over $5,000.
