A 21-year-old man is facing numerous charges after a vehicle refused to stop for Hamilton police.
Police say shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, officers spotted a Lexus sedan travelling 86 km/h in a 60 zone on Nikola Tesla Boulevard at Ottawa Street.
When police tried to stop the vehicle, they say the driver accelerated. Due to the icy road conditions, police determined it was unsafe to pursue.

A short time later, police came across a collision in the area of Wilcox Street at Industrial Drive, where a vehicle had crashed into a fence. Police say the car was the same vehicle that fled officers earlier.
As a result, the driver was immediately arrested and the vehicle was towed to a compound.
Police say the driver is facing eight charges, which include failing to stop for police, speeding, driving while under suspension and careless driving.
