Langley RCMP say notorious fraudster wanted Canada-wide working in their community

Langley RCMP are looking for a notorious fraudster known for targeting senior citizens.

Police say Richard Earl Rupert is known for targeting seniors across Canada and is now alleged to have defrauded a 92-year-old Langley woman.

The woman was walking home from the grocery store when she was approached by a man who convinced her he was a family friend who needed money for car repairs.

He accompanied the woman to a bank machine where she withdrew several hundred dollars.

Police say once the victim handed over the money, Rupert disappeared. He has been known to become aggressive and physically violent.

He is described as 57 years old, Caucasian, 5’6”, 140-160 lbs., with hazel eyes and a receding hairline. His face is said to be pock-marked.

Rupert has been featured on W5 and America’s Most Wanted and is wanted by the following police agencies:

The warrants are for offences including theft, robbery, break and enter, fraud, impersonation, unlawfully in a dwelling house and attempted fraud.
