A short but dramatic police incident played out around midday Monday in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
Vancouver police say a disturbed man locked himself on an upper floor of the Hotel Vancouver and lit a small fire.

Multiple fire trucks and a large number police, some heavily armed, were called to the scene.
Traffic on Burrard Street and Georgia Street was affected for a short time but the incident has since been cleared.
Police say the man was taken to hospital and there have been no reports of any injuries.
