Grammy winner Alessia Cara announces tour stop in Regina

Grammy award-winning artist Alessia Cara is coming to the Queen City.

Cara released dates for her upcoming The Pains of Growing 2019 Canadian Tour on Thursday and will make a stop at the Conexus Arts Centre on May 21.

It will be her first visit to Regina since emerging onto the music scene in 2015 with her international hit Here.

The song amassed over 500,000 streams on Soundcloud in its first week – becoming Spotify’s Most Viral Song of 2015.

Here sold over three-million copies and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

The Brampton, Ont., native’s “Scars to Your Beautiful” hit the radio airwaves in July 2016 – peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her latest success came in the form of a Grammy, winning Best New Artist in 2018.

Cara has also been nominated for Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and the Juno Fan Choice Award at the 2019 Juno Awards in London, Ont., on March 17.

The 22-year-old has been nominated for 10 Juno awards – winning Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2016 and Pop Album of the Year for Know-It-All in 2018.

Tickets go on sale on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
