A Calgary festival that encourages people to sip on hot chocolate for charity kicks off on Friday, and this year there’s a new app to help you find participating vendors.

YYC Hot Chocolate Fest runs throughout the month of February, with over 75 local cafes, restaurants and chocolatiers selling special cocoa creations in support of Meals on Wheels.

New for 2019, those wishing to taste one of the charity chocolate drinks can download the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest app which lets users find the closest participating businesses and vote for their favourite drink.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A list of participating vendors can also be found on the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest website.

According to Meals on Wheels, YYC Hot Chocolate Fest was a huge success last year, raising nearly $35,000 through the sale of over 20,000 hot chocolates.
