Meaford man arrested hours after he was released on bail: police

A man from Meaford was arrested just hours after being released on bail, police say.

According to Grey County OPP, on Friday a 24-year-old man from Meaford was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.

Officers say the man was released after a bail hearing on conditions not to communicate with the victim directly or indirectly, or attend their residence.

Police say at around 6 p.m., officers received a report that the man had allegedly returned to the victim’s home.

Officers say the man left prior to police arrival, however, he was located nearby and arrested for two counts of failing to comply with recognizance.

According to police, he was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Jan. 26.
