White Rock Council is considering whether to allow dogs on the seawall in off-season months, and Mayor Darryl Walker is surprised by the controversy the possible plan is causing.

“People are emotional about these things. Their dogs are part of their extended family,” Walker says.

Before council decides, it wants to hear from residents at a public forum Wednesday evening that is expected to be packed.

Walker says he doesn’t own a dog and has not yet decided how he will vote.
