Toronto police have arrested three men and seized $6.8 million worth of cocaine in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.
Investigators said Project Sparta began last fall and resulted in the execution of six search warrants at three homes and three vehicles.
“This was an investigation utilized different type of intelligence-led techniques. It was significant results,” Insp. Steve Watts said during a news conference at police headquarters Friday morning.
Police said the items seized include 68 kilograms of cocaine, five kilograms of MDMA, seven kilograms of ketamine, one kilogram of methamphetamine, 120 lbs. of shrink-wrapped marijuana and $343,759 in Canadian currency. A cocaine press and a money counter was also confiscated.
Investigators said some of the drugs were hidden inside custom-made furniture and two Toyota Rav4 vehicles.
The three suspects were arrested on Jan. 9 and identified as Hung Nguyen, 34, of Toronto, Adrian Narayan, 20, of Toronto and Nicholas Droege, 20, of Toronto.
Each of the men face multiple charges including possession of for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and proceeds of crime.
Two of the three accused are scheduled to appear in court in February.
