Burnaby RCMP are investigating a fatal crash amid heavy rain and wind.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, a truck crashed on the Lougheed Highway just east of Lake City Way.
The road was closed in both directions but has since re-opened.
Three people were trapped inside the wreckage, and were eventually pulled out by firefighters.

The driver died at the scene. The two other victims were sent to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP said weather conditions may have played a role in the accident. Alcohol is also a possible factor, RCMP said.
The crash was one of three fatal incidents on Metro Vancouver roads overnight. In Surrey, a man in his 50s was killed after being struck by two vehicles on Highway 10 near 152 Street.
An investigation is underway in Delta after a person was killed in a collision on Highway 17 near the Deltaport.
There was a also a serious crash in Surrey at Highway 17 and Old Yale Road on Friday morning.
