Provincial police in Norfolk county have opened an investigation into a home for sale after an unknown individual attempted to rent the property on Kijiji.
Police said they received a complaint around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from the homeowner after a man inquired about renting the property after their viewing.
According to police, the home that had been listed for sale online had been compromised by another individual that posted the house for rent on Kijiji.

They say several people had been in contact with an unknown individual claiming to currently be in Nevada and were asked to send or email them rent money directly.

Police said while no funds were transferred to this person, you should always be careful when trying to buy or rent a home and to be aware of people trying to “cheat” or “defraud” you.
