A man died when a vehicle crashed after fleeing from RCMP just east of Edmonton, and now the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating.
The single-vehicle rollover happened on the Sherwood Park Freeway, near Anthony Henday Drive, late Tuesday afternoon. A large, grey SUV could be seen on its side in the ditch.

At the time, Strathcona County RCMP said a collision analyst had been called to help with the investigation. On Wednesday, ASIRT said in a tweet that the fatal crash happened after a vehicle fled from RCMP.
ASIRT investigates incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
