The Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating a suspicious vehicle fire in West Perth over the weekend.
Provincial police say they received reports about a vehicle on Lane Street that was fully engulfed in flames shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The West Perth Fire Department and Perth County OPP responded to the scene. Fire crews extinguished the fire in the unoccupied vehicle.

Police say they’ve determined the cause of the blaze is suspicious.

They say they’re also investigating a recovered stolen vehicle, and a recovered stolen trailer and sailboat that they believe to be related to the arson.
“Acts of arson pose serious and unnecessary risks to public safety,” said Det. Sgt. Todd Amlin of Middlesex County OPP.

“Thankfully, the fire was contained to one area, and no injuries were sustained as a result. We are working to identify the person responsible and believe that the incident was a deliberate, one-time occurrence.”
