Officials say they successfully carried out a planned ignition on the Placer Mountain fire on Sunday.
The fire, which is burning 37 kilometres south of Princeton, is estimated to be 1,017 hectares in size. It was caused by lightning nearly two weeks ago.
The fire remains out of control.
Ninety-eight firefighters, eight helicopters and 12 pieces of heavy equipment are battling the blaze.
Crews are assessing how to protect structures near the fire. They’re also locating, inspecting and marking the location of helipads.
An evacuation alert remains in place for the Cathedral Park Lodge.
