Air support chips in to catch Saskatoon speeders

SASKATOON – In an effort to enforce speed limits, Saskatoon police called in air support to help ticket speeders on local roads.

Over the weekend, the Saskatoon Police Service conducted a number of speed enforcement projects resulting in 13 speeding tickets.

On Saturday, members set up on 22nd Street west of Hart Road and on Highway 11 south of Circle Drive.

A total of 16 motorists were stopped, going at least 35 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police say four motorists were ticketed for not reducing their speed to 60 km/h when passing an emergency vehicle.

On Sunday, an airplane helped police patrol 22nd Street between Hart Road and Betts Avenue.

Four tickets were issued for speeds up to 92 km/hr in the 60 km/h zone.

Two vehicles were seized on Tuesday after Saskatoon police members clocked drivers racing to $400 tickets.
