Arrest for stolen car leads to drug bust in Winnipeg’s North End

Police have two suspects behind bars after an arrest for a stolen car led to a drug bust.

Around 8:10 p.m. Monday night, officers in the North End spotted a car sporting stolen plates near Main Street and Redwood Avenue.

They stopped the vehicle and arrested the 23-year-old man driving as well as a 23-year-old female passenger. A quick check found the car had been stolen from East St. Paul on July 4. The plates had been stolen on July 15 from a vehicle in Winnipeg.

When the K-9 team arrived at the scene, a police dog indicated there were a number of drugs inside the vehicle.

Police searched the car and found a pellet gun, along with cocaine, meth, Percocet pills, Xanax and various other pills and drug paraphernalia.

The pair of suspects face long lists of charges for drug possession with the intention of trafficking, weapons offences and possession of property obtained by crime.
