A 20-year-old man has died following a shooting in Abbotsford on Canada Day.
Officers responded to a home in the 2500-block of Birch Street after receiving a 911 hang-up call at around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Ambulance crews arrived to find a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

He was sent to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
An 18-year-old man was arrested but has since been released from police custody. No criminal charges have been laid at this time.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now been called in and has taken over the case.

IHIT investigators have identified the victim but his name is not being released at this time. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.
“We believe this was an isolated incident, with no known links to drugs and gang activity, involving individuals that were known to each other,” says Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT.
