Regina police say they have laid charges after a man was threatened with a loaded gun on Monday.

Officers were called to the 1300-block of Wascana Street at around 8 a.m. CT.

According to police, the victim said he was in an argument with another man in a home when the other man allegedly loaded a gun and pointed it at him while making threats.

They said the victim was eventually able to escape and contact police. No injuries were reported.

Officers surrounded the home and were able to safely remove some of the home’s other occupants.

Police apprehended Jason Bird, 30, inside the home. A loaded gun was also found and seized.

Bird was charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and tampering with a serial number on a firearm.

Police said he also had a previous warrant out for his arrest. Bird is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
