Police identify man, 29, stabbed to death in east-end Toronto

Police have identified a 29-year-old man stabbed to death in Toronto’s east end early Sunday as Matthew Lidster.

Toronto police say two men got into an altercation while riding a city bus and started to fight after exiting the bus near Danforth and Greenwood avenues around 3:30 a.m.

Police said during the fight one of the men was stabbed multiple times.

The victim was taken to hospital on an emergency run in critical condition. Later Sunday afternoon police said he succumbed to his injuries.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Tuesday.

Officers said they are searching for one suspect who is described as a white man in his 20s, skinny build, wearing all black clothing.
