Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger said that “clearly some of the reasons why Toronto is interested” in Murray is because of Hamilton’s success.

General Manager of Finance Mike Zegarac will serve as Hamilton’s interim city manager when Murray officially takes over as Toronto’s city manager in mid-August.

Eisenberger credits Murray with guiding Hamilton through many issues, including the Stelco restructuring, the Pan Am Games, LRT and its digital strategy.

“We’ve been able to do some great things together, and it’s sad to see it come to an end, but we have a good, solid management team that can keep us going forward,” he said.
