Winnipeg’s Valour FC names head coach
Winnipeg’s new professional soccer club, Valour FC, has named Rob Gale as its first head coach.
“I was a fan of this team before it was even named,” Gale said.
“You will not find someone more passionate about soccer in Manitoba than me.”
Gale said the size of the coaching staff will be determined by the league, and expects it to have ‘Manitoba content’.

Gale has been in charge of the Canadian men’s under-20 team since April 2014. He previously played for the Winnipeg Alliance, scoring the franchise’s first goal against the Saskatoon Accelerators. He also suited up professionally in England in the late 1990s.
In 2006, Gale was recruited by the Manitoba Soccer Association to be its technical director.
Valour FC is one of seven clubs that will play in the newly formed Canadian Premier League. It revealed its crest and colours at its home stadium, Investors Group Field, on June 6.
The team will kick off its inaugural season in the spring of 2019.
The average ticket price will be $20 per match for adults and $11 for youth.
