For a second time on Friday, a severe thunderstorm warning for Edmonton was downgraded to a watch.
The warning ended at 8:21 p.m. after being issued less than an hour earlier by Environment Canada.
The first severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park at 4:37 p.m., only to be downgraded back to a watch at 5:10 p.m.

Environment Canada said the thunderstorm could be capable of producing “strong wind gusts, pea-to dime-sized hail and heavy rain.”
The storm was nearly stationary and capable of producing flooding rains in Edmonton, Environment Canada said.

“Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” the Environment Canada release read.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued with imminent or occurring thunderstorms that are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
