Two people remain in hospital following a crash on Highway 7 near Guelph on Wednesday evening.
Wellington County OPP responded to the collision, along with fire rescue and paramedic services, around 5:30 p.m. after reports that an SUV and a sedan had collided head-on between Guelph and Rockwood.

Police said that a 71-year-old Guelph woman was airlifted to an out-of-town trauma centre following the collision, while a 77-year-old man from Halton region was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday, police said the woman’s condition was listed as stable.
Investigators said that both of the parties were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time, but police said they are looking into whether speed was a factor.

Highway 7 was closed for several hours, but was reopened later that night.
