Police are investigating a suspected homicide at a home in Kitchener on Monday evening.
A family member asked police to check in on a man at 926 Courtland Ave. East at around 8:30 p.m.
“Our officers responded and entered the residence and did determine that there was a deceased male, approximately 60 years old, within the residence with obvious signs of trauma,” Executive Officer Inspector Mike Haffner said.
Police did not disclose why the family member alerted them to check on the victim.

Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem being conducted in Hamilton before they will announce how the man was killed. Haffner says it is also unclear why the man was killed.
“Right now, we are still in the infancy of this investigation and we have no suspects,” he said. “We don’t know for sure if this is a targeted or random attack.”
Police have released details of a man they are hoping to speak with in connection with the investigation.
“He is described as white, 20-30 years old. He was wearing a black knapsack and was also carrying a guitar,” Haffner said. “We are just looking to speak to this male to provide us with any information.”
Haffner said police will be in the area for several days to investigate the incident.
“We will be here as an organization for approximately 3-4 days processing evidence as well as conducting a number of canvases,” he said adding, “For instance, (Tuesday) at approximately 6 p.m. we will be conducting a canvas looking for anyone who may have any information in relation to this death.”
A command post is being established at a nearby business.
A large police presence was seen Monday afternoon inspecting all corners of the townhouse complex on Courtland Avenue.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 519-570-9777 ext. 8424 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
