Police said the incident occurred on Linderwood Drive near Chingcousy Road and Bovaird Drive around 10:15 p.m.

Peel Paramedics were called to the area where they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Neighbourhood resident Tony Carino told Global News he heard three shots and thought they must be fireworks.

“I thought it was a late celebration of Victoria Day,” Carino said. “But I was wrong.”

While investigators have not released any information on suspects at this time, Const. Bancroft Wright said a dark coloured vehicle was seen driving away going eastbound on Linderwood Drive.

Wright said officers are canvassing the area and going door-to-door, asking residents if they saw or heard anything in relation to the incident.
