Saskatoon Transit expects new high frequency routes on Preston Avenue and Attridge Drive will have a major impact on people living in the northeast corner of the city.
The new routes will offer 10 minute service – with limited stops – along Preston and Attridge up to Nelson Road and Lowe Road during weekdays. Service will be reduced to 30 minute intervals on evenings, weekends and holidays.
“High frequency service to more areas of the city will provide superior service along high demand corridors,” stated Jim McDonald, the director of Saskatoon Transit, in a press release.
Another six new routes are being added, with nine routes being altered and four discontinued.

The changes come into effect on July 1.
McDonald said along with improving service, the changes are due in part to increased ridership.
“With the service changes we are making to improve the frequency, people are recognizing transit as a viable option,” McDonald said.
“Connecting the northeast corner of the city with higher frequency is another step towards bus rapid transit (BRT).”
Transit is holding an open house on April 17 at Alice Turner Library to give people a chance to see the new routes and ask questions.
“This is the public’s chance to provide feedback on how the new routes will affect their community,” McDonald said.
The new and altered routes can also be viewed at the Saskatoon Transit website, along with a short survey riders can fill out on how the service changes will affect them.
