Children’s book predicts Winnipeg Jets will win the Stanley Cup
It’s a story book ending every Winnipeg Jets fan hopes becomes a reality.
But for one author, the Jets winning the Stanley Cup would be even more of a thrill… because she predicted it. Kind of.
‘Whiteout A Winnipeg Jets Story’ was written by Calgary-based author Holly Preston with help from the Winnipeg Jets.
“We really wanted to capture the passion of Winnipeg fans,” Preston said. “We embraced the whiteout theme which to me, just seemed to make sense.”
The children’s book gives a brief history of the Winnipeg Whiteout but it also pits the Jets against the Minnesota Wild in a playoff series.
“There wasn’t any discussion other than it should be the Minnesota Wild,” Preston said.

At the beginning of April, it was announced the two would be facing off against each other in round one.
“We’re feeling very good about the way it’s gone,” Preston said laughing.
The book was published last September, long before anyone had an idea of who would even make the playoffs.
This is also only the third time in 18 seasons the franchise has qualified for the playoffs.
“We knew the whiteout was important to fans. We knew there hadn’t been a lot of them in the past but we wanted to look forward,” she said.
But on top of just getting the teams right, Preston’s book also correctly wrote the score from Game 2 — a 4-1 Jets win. A move she said was simply “good fortune.”
The series hasn’t fully played out the way Preston predicted things would go. In her version, the Jets had a hat trick during last Friday’s game.
But if all else goes according to what’s written, Jets’ fans will be welcoming the Stanley Cup to the city this season for the first time ever.
“There they are with playoff beards. This could be happening couldn’t it! They’re darn close,” she said.
