Man found near Edmonton community hall with gunshot wound is latest homicide victim

Edmonton police say a man found suffering from a gunshot wound near the Evansdale Community Hall on Sunday is the city’s latest homicide victim.

Police said the man died of a gunshot wound and identified him as 23-year-old Abdiqani Hussen.

Officers were called to the hall, near 91 Street and 145 Avenue, at around 3:30 a.m. to a weapons complaint.

Police said residents in the area reported hearing gunshots near the community hall.

When officers arrived, they learned an injured man had been rushed to a medical centre by family members, and later died from his injuries.

Police did not have any suspects in custody Sunday but said the public was not at risk.
