Kingston man arrested for fast food rage

A 23-year-old Kingston man was charged after he lost his temper waiting for his order at a downtown fast food joint.

On April 9, around 10:30 p.m., police say the man was waiting in line at a fast food restaurant when he began harassing the employees due to the length of time his food was taking. Witnessnes told police that the man was extremely aggressive and out of control.

According to police, other people in line told the enraged man to calm down, and one man suggested he just cancel his order. This suggestion made the impatient man even more furious, and police say he then followed the man outside and headbutted him, knocking him to the ground. The accused then began punching the victim until others intervened, police say.

A few moments later, according to police, the angry man then picked up a large construction pylon and began hitting the victim with it. When a witness warned he was calling police the accused threatened to beat him, but then fled in his vehicle.

Police then found the accused at Queen and Barrie streets with the assistance of people at the scene. Witnesses said that they thought the man might be under the influence of some substance, but police couldn’t confirm whether the accused was impaired. There is a MacDonald’s two blocks away from where the man was picked up, but police couldn’t confirm whether or not that was the location of the alleged assault.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was later released on conditions with a future court date.
