Edmonton police arrest man in connection to 2017 homicide

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2017 homicide.

William John Robert Monkman has been charged with second-degree murder, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Monkman was arrested in B.C. last August after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The charges are connected to a homicide in north Edmonton on Aug. 2, 2017.

Police found a man suffering from stab wounds in the area of 118 Avenue and 54 Street at around 3:30 a.m. after officers responded to a weapons complaint.

The man was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries. Police haven’t released the identity of the victim.
