Boy charged with robbing Prince Albert, Sask. store

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with the early evening armed robbery of a Prince Albert, Sask. convenience store.

Prince Albert police said the teen entered the store in the 600-block of 15th Avenue East just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

Staff said he was wearing a mask and armed with a knife.

He demanded a carton of cigarettes and then fled.

Officers located the teen in the 900-block of Allbright Crescent and took him into custody following a brief foot chase.

Police said he threw something during the chase, which turned out to be the carton of cigarettes.

The Prince Albert boy is charged with robbery, wearing a mask while committing an offense, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He cannot be named under provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen was scheduled to appear Friday in Prince Albert provincial court.
