The 25-year-old man who died in a truck northeast of Edmonton on Saturday morning was sought out and shot to death, RCMP confirmed Thursday morning.
Gunner Christie, 25, from Redwater, Alta., was found inside a Ford Ranger truck in the ditch on Range Road 234, north of Township Road 580, about 20 kilometres west of Redwater.

RCMP said a passerby reported a truck in the ditch. The passerby attempted to revive Christie, but he was declared dead by EMS a short while later.
An autopsy conducted Thursday morning in Edmonton confirmed Christie was shot to death, and RCMP are investigating the death as a homicide.
Police believe this was a deliberate, targeted attack and the general public was not at risk. As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made.

The RCMP major crimes unit is asking that anyone with information about Christie’s activities leading up to his death call the Redwater RCMP at 780-942-3600.
“If you were in the area and saw anything or anyone suspicious, please call,” the RCMP news release said. “No piece of information is too small and may assist in the ongoing investigation.”
Redwater is located about 60 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
