According to Environment Canada, wind gusts as high as 100 km/h are likely to develop in Kingston around noon on Wednesday. The environmental agency says that the forceful winds are due to a sharp arctic cold front that will blast across the region, leaving an extremely strong southwest wind in its wake.

Environment Canada warns of possible power outages and damage to buildings from debris and tree limbs. They are warning people to be aware of loose objects that may be easily tossed by the wind and to adjust their driving patterns due to the extreme force of the wind.

Environment Canada says winds will start to diminish slowly in the evening.
