Two charged after kidnapping, robbery: Kingston police

Two people have been arrested and charged after allegedly kidnapping, robbing and assaulting a female victim.

Jesse Decardo Turner, 24, and Janelle Danika Street, 21, allegedly pointed a handgun at a woman near Amberdale Crescent on March 28 around 11:30 p.m.

According to police, the two allegedly assaulted the woman, stole her jewelry and computer tablet. Police say they then stole the woman’s car and brought her to a home in the north end of Kingston.

Police say Turner then fired the handgun four times in a rear parking lot on Wilson Street. The two then left the victim at the residence and fled in her vehicle.

Later in the morning, police found the stolen vehicle in the Amberdale Crescent area and then tried to arrest Turner and Street, who they suspected to be armed. Turner ran off with police following him on foot to Sexton Place. They arrested him in a backyard on Craig Lane, and say they found a knife on him.

Street had also fled but wasn’t found until March 30. After police arrested Turner early in the morning on March 29, they found a loaded revolver under the driver’s seat in the stolen vehicle.

Turner was already wanted on a Canada-wide warrant by Edmonton Police for aggravated assault, and Kingston police had been actively searching for him at the time.

Both were charged with robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm, discharge a firearm, possession of stolen property, and possession of a stolen firearm. Both accused parties were held pending a bail hearing.
