A man who sped away from Saskatoon police officers is facing a number of charges, including dangerous driving.
Patrol officers first spotted the dark-coloured Chrysler 300 speeding on Centennial Drive early Saturday morning.
Officers said the driver took off at a high rate of speed before they could pull the car over.
Members of the air support unit (ASU) followed the car westbound out of the city’s limits before it turned around, heading back towards the city on Highway 14.
A tire deflation device was successfully used by ground officers before the car entered the city, but the driver kept going, eventually stopping at a gas station at the intersection of Highway 7 and 11th Street West.
ASU members saw two people walk away from the car and officers descended on the scene.
Numerous commands were made by officers for the man to stop, but he refused and was eventually caught by a police dog.
Officers said he continued to resist arrest while being handcuffed.
A search of the vehicle turned up a knife.
The 32-year-old Saskatoon man is also charged with evading police, driving while disqualified, possessing a prohibited weapon, and breach of probation.
A woman was also taken into custody and later released.
