Country music fans in the City of Kawartha Lakes are celebrating the Juno award win for the homegrown James Barker Band.

At the Juno Awards in Vancouver on Sunday night, the band claimed the 2018 Juno for Country Album of the Year for “Game On.”

The band features James Barker, a native of Woodville (just north of Lindsay), along with Taylor Abram, Connor Stephen and Bobby Martin.

They formed in 2013 and their big break came with winning the 2015 Boots and Hearts Music Festival Emerging Artist Competition. “Game On” was released in April 2017, which led them to winning the Fans’ Choice Award at the 2017 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards.
