Lethbridge School District 51 is cancelling classes for students at Gilbert Patterson Middle School on Friday.
In a media release issued late Thursday, Lethbridge police said they were investigating a potential threat at the south-side school.

Police said they are still working to determine the credibility of the threat and that the investigation is still in its early stages.

Police did not provide any additional details about the nature of the threat.
School officials said classes at Gilbert Patterson are expected to resume on Monday.
