Mike McEwen is crossing enemy lines to fill the vacant spot on Reid Carruthers’ curling team.
Team Carruthers made the announcement on social media Tuesday afternoon.
McEwen’s team already announced this month its splitting up at the end of this curling season meantime Carruthers’ third Braeden Moskowy left his team last week.
Carruthers and McEwen have been rivals in Manitoba curling, often ending up in championship finals against each other.
In the post announcement, the team joked they were “Frenemies no more”.
According to the Team Carruthers’ tweet, McEwen will throw fourth while Carruthers will continue to skip. The team plan to stay together for the next four years, making a run at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
