Hamilton police have now revealed why an elementary school was placed under a “hold and secure” on Monday afternoon.
School administrators at Elizabeth Bagshaw Elementary School on Albright Road called police after finding a suspicious note in the school at around 10 a.m.
Police say the note included a possible threat of violence, which led to the ‘hold and secure’ being ordered.

Students at the school, near the Red Hill Valley Parkway, were forced to stay inside until they were given the all-clear just prior to 4:30 p.m.
Police say there was “no actual threat” and “at no time was the safety of staff and students in question.”
