Red Deer RCMP say a threat made against a high school in the central Alberta city poses no immediate risk to students, staff or the public.
At around 11 a.m. on Friday, RCMP sent a release saying they were on scene at Hunting Hills High School investigating an alleged threat that was posted on social media.
The school was placed in lockdown, but police said it was a precautionary measure and there was no danger.
One youth is in custody and the investigation is ongoing. Police said the post in which the threat was made has been removed.
More information is expected to be released, but police thanked the students of the high school for bringing the threat to the attention of police quickly.
The alleged threat comes the same day that threats were made on social media against public high schools in St. Albert, a bedroom community northwest of Edmonton.
