St. Thomas police have contacted the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) after a disturbing discovery Thursday morning.
Police were contacted at 8:05 a.m. after a passerby found a Fit 4 Less black gym bag along the CN rail tracks between Inkerman Street and Woodworth Avenue.
A dead puppy was found inside the bag.
According to investigators, the dog was between six and eight months old and likely starved to death. It’s described as a female black lab mix with a white patch of fur on its chest.
The OSPCA and police are investigating and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-631-1224 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
