Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area due to snowfall beginning Thursday night.
While the agency said Toronto could receive five to 10 centimetres of snow, Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell said totals could be in the range of one to five centimetres by Friday morning due to mild temperatures Thursday afternoon.
The hardest hit areas will be west of the city, as well as parts of southwestern Ontario. Forecasters said Hamilton could receive anywhere between 10 to 25 centimetres of snow, while the Niagara region could receive 15 to 30.

In Toronto, a rain and wet snow mix is expected to move into the GTA early this evening and then turn into snow.
Environment Canada said strong and gusty northerly winds may result in local blowing snow and poor visibility in some areas overnight.
The low pressure system will move away from the area Friday but will likely still result in a messy morning commute for motorists in the morning.
