Saskatoon Blades extend win streak to 18 games by defeating Brandon

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Blades extended their win streak to 18 games on Friday with a 4-1 victory against the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League play.

Shane McColgan and Josh Nicholls had a goal and an assist each for the Blades (41-21-3) while Nick Zajac and Brenden Walker added single goals.

Richard Nejezchleb scored the lone goal for the Wheat Kings (21-38-6), who are winless in six contests.

Andrey Makarov made 21 saves for the win and Corbin Boes stopped 35-of-38 shots in defeat.

Saskatoon went 0 for 3 on the power play while Brandon scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

Also Friday night, Saskatoon Blades head coach and general manager Lorne Molleken became the second coach in WHL history to reach 600 wins.

The Saskatoon Blades next game is Sunday when they travel to Moose Jaw to take on the Warriors.
